I was only 13 and there was no way I could get to NY from Los Angeles. I hated that I was not quite old enough to do the stuff that was going on all around me, but I guess that could have been a GOOD thing!

A couple of years later I actually met a guy who had been there and he still had his muddy jeans. He swore that he would never wash them.

Years later when I was in my 30's, I would have these dreams that I was back in the '60's, but older, old enough to live all of the flower child, hippie, rebellious lifestyle that I could not while the actual '60's were going on. (Aside from being able to wear make-up and short skirts in junior high, that is.)

That year, I'd just graduated from college and joined a bunch of my friends for the drive up to Atlanta for the 1969 Atlanta Pop Festival. "Life" magazine called it the biggest music festival ever. Big names, great times and much of the substance of what I saw in the "Woodstock" movie. I felt like I got the abbreviated version of Woodstock that year, so when I see the movie or hear the music from Woodstock, it almost feels as if I was there and can relate to others that were. Rather than rain and mud, we had faint-worthy heat that July 4 weekend.

High point for me: On the last night, sitting on a pile of dried out watermelon rinds right under Janis for one of her last performances. Also enjoyed the sex show in the camp grounds when I drew the short straw in our group during Led Zeppelin's performance and had to go retrieve the cooler and drinks.
